H.H. Sakya Trizin appointed Di Cousens as the Spiritual Director of Sakya Choekhor Lhunpo at the time it was established in June 1997. She has made video documentaries on the Tibetan community in India where she lived for most of the 1980s. In India she was able to spend a great deal of time staying in monasteries of many different traditions, and is an enthusiastic exponent of non-sectarianism. She first met H.H. Sakya Trizin after the Kalachakra Initiation in Bodhgaya in 1985-6 and attended Lamdre at Vajradhara Gonpa, NSW, in 1988. She stayed briefly at the newly created Sakya Tharpa Ling in Sydney after Lamdre, which is Australia's first Sakya Centre. Since returning to Australia she has been a student of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. She has a Master of Arts in Tibetan History from La Trobe University, graduating in 1997. Di is an active exponent of interfaith dialogue and has presented many papers in the interfaith context. Some of these are made available here.
