About the Centre
The Melbourne Sakya Centre was founded by His Holiness Sakya Trizin during his visit to Melbourne in June, 1997. In the years since his visit we have hosted teaching tours to Melbourne by many Sakyapa lamas including:
Her Eminence Jetsun Kushola and special visits by His Eminence Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in the year 2000 and His Eminence Beru Khyentse Rinpoche in 2003.
In 2004, Lama Lekshe of the Sakya Centre in Rajpur, India came and blessed the centre.
Since 1997, Khenpo Ngawang Damchoe has come to Melbourne many times every year to teach. Ven. Dungyud Rinpoche has also visited many times and given teachings and initiations.
